Do it Yourself Home Security

There are so many ways you can beef up your home security to make it more of a “hardened” target. You can hire security guards, put up electrified fences, hire a security company and install all manner of security cameras. The amount of security you can have is only limited by the amount of money you want to spend.
The basics of home security are free or at little cost other than some time invested.
1. Lock Doors and Windows-sixty percent of all home burglaries are thru open doors and windows.
2. Use Your Peep Hole-home invasions almost always happen thru someone just opening a door. For gosh sakes see who it is first.
3. Remove Hiding Places-trees and shrubs where the bad guys can hide.
4. Neighborhood Watch-your local sheriff’s department can help set it up and it is FREE. It works too.
Then the next step is to install some simple home security devices. Window and door alarms come to mind and perhaps some motion activated spotlights. The sound of a barking dog is one of the best time tested deterrents for burglars.
The next step is much more high tech and a little more costly but the most effective. Install some surveillance security cameras.
There is a USB DVR system that has 4 cameras that can be used indoors or outdoors with wired or wireless cameras. It is easy to use, easy to install and is less than $500.00. Or try an outdoor IP camera that hooks right into your computer saving you money on hardware. Both are networkable making the images viewable from anywhere there is an internet connection.
